*GASPS* IT'S HERE......

On Boxing Day, at 6:30pmish, i received a call from my friend Shirley. "TEE results are out". Hmm, if she were not my friend, i would have hung up on her. Luckily, i was at work. Sort of...I forgot i changed shifts with Huong, so i turned up for nothign, but i still got my free games, and some bubble tea...

Anyway, i talked to her for 30mins or so, and 10 mins after we did finished talking, my friend John called me, also informing TEE results have been revealed online. What joy. I really do want to procrastinate this revelation, but if there are so many asking....

So what do i do, in a 38 degree day, with a non-working air conditioning unit at timezone: I played DDR.

My refuge to "de-stress" from exams, became my shelter from the anxiety that would torment me as more people thought they were doing me a favour by telling me...How wrong they were...

I did better than i thought i would, considering the lack of study, and my inability to refuse my ONE FREE GAME - EVERYDAY. I tell you, my faithful readers, that if the TER cut-offs remain the same for Pharmacy as it were in 2006, then i would be able to squeeze in. However, if the rumours of raising the TER cut-offs to around 94, i'm out.

I'll pray about it, and see how it goes. All the best for your results.

"Quick" Summary

My 87% in discrete maths was no where near my TEE. Apparently i got a raw examination score of 73% in DM.....After reading that, I could have killed someone. Then i remembered, i played DDR, and i felt emotionally stable once again....

Passed English, despite my doubts on my essay writing abilities...

Applic went alright. i wasn't intending on counting it, but not studying and getting in the 3rd percentile......Hmmm......Must be because i'm Asian....

Econs was surprising. Everyone said it was easy, and i thought it was somewhat difficult. Well, i got 20% more in TEE than i did in mocks, and 35% more that in 1st semester.....I currently have a strong distaste for Trinity College Economics teachers.....

Finally, Chemistry, which was taken on my b'day. Went ok. Not my best result. Was not scaled at all.

Overall.....I'm just happy i beat my sister, Lisa :P

In the Groove

I went to Timezone today, to visit, as you do when you work...I was generous enough to bring pizza for Penguin and Chad. The ordered it from Dominos, and i just delivered it cause i had nothing better to do. But it was not wasted. I was to deliver the MOST EXPENSIVE PIZZA i have ever seen.

So i pass a $20 note to the guy, and he gives me change. $4.05.....What the....Is this guy gypping me of $10? Turns out, ONE pizza set him back $15.95......Why? The pizza had 7 different meats and TRIPLE cheese. Eww, How unhealthy... But it was the BEST. It just melts in your mouth. *Drools* I not only got one slice of this grand piece of art, but also the change. $4.05....SCORE!

I then challenged Kristy and Ryoko to DDR, and Percussion Master. I work there, play almost every game, so i like to tone down my PRO status. But my above average skills were no match for Ryoko's high score in Percussion Master. Kristy and i thought we might also jump in the picture, but we were cut off by the frame anyway...

There's also a new game in TZ. Deal or No Deal. I took the liberty to test the game out. If you pay twice, you have a chance to win 200 tickets. I knocked out the top two figures in the first round. But my last two cases were worth 2 tickets and 80 tickets. My original aim was to beat Penguin, who got 40 tickets. My offer was 41 tickets, but you only live once. So NO DEAL.

Case No. 10, chosen by Richard Chew, was worth a GRAND 2 tickets....I was paid out by everyone - my manager (Chad), Penguin, even the customers i serve.....

End of the day, Kristy and i went to play In the Groove 2. An amped up version of DDR. It looked so nice, and i was tempted to play, until i saw it costs $2.....Not that i'm stingy, but why pay $2, when you pay $1.40 at TZ, and during the school holidays, if you upload $20, you get $10 free credit...

We did play. Bumble Bee was the best song. Then we died in the next one........2 songs for $2? Nah, nah, nah

Tomorrow i'll be going to the licensing centre to get my learner's theorey test out of the way. I'll be going with Lisa, David and Kristy. Then i can finally drive a real car, not one i race with in Maximum Tune 3....

The Joys of Work

When i first started, i told my manager i would be able to work as many shifts as possible throughout the week. In the past week, i've worked 5 of my last 7 days, the max for any CSA staff member.

I am going to be completely wasted tomorrow. I started at 4:30pm since my friend Huong had to leave early. She finished at 6, which was when i was supposed to start, ending at 2am. Turns out, i ended at 3am. Why? Cause there were bins that required cleaning, which certainly took a lot of our time.

I did however take the time to come to church somewhat early (9:30; 30 mins late). Drifting in and out of consciousness during the service, i did however stay awake throughout the service, unlike Joshua, who sat beside me...

After church, i went to play tennis at UWA, which was awesome. The partnership of P's/Christ Church & Trinity/ Jason and Richard defeated Kevin and Kenn in the Semi's, and went on to defeat GaHing and Edward in the Finals. During the interviews, team mates were in completely synchronised:

Richard: "Well we had our good moments, except when we lost Love to game as i served four consecutive double faults. Nah -"
Jason: "Nah, Nah, Nah. But representing PKingdom, we were victorious. Our P aura was to great for our opponents to surpass"

My right hand is now incredibly sore. Someone decided to torment me by pressing my pressure point in between my thumb and index finger. Combining the bruising with excessive PRO TENNIS MOVES, my hand will be injured for the next few days....

I'm off to work now, starting at 7, finishing at 12. More vacuuming for me. What joy....

Zoning Out Of Time

My First Night shift last night: 7:30pm to 12:00 midnight. Apparently Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest nights. What does Wed bring? Wed means counting up all the stock in every machine, including the only one i helped out in....Sweet Land 4.

Sweet Land 4 sounds sweet, and the chocolate inside (eg. maltesers, bounty, twix and M&M's) are SO tasty. There's like so many in the machine, that many kids like i drool over the sphere-like windshield; the only thing holding me back from that sweet Chocohol...

The problem about it is that we have to count every sing one.......Handpicking them all, we brought it to the counter and counted the lollies first, adding a dash to the tally for every 50 lollies. A total of 911 lollies were in the machine, 3 of which i won whilst testing if it works.....Ok, i pretended i didn't know how it worked, and three fantales came out.

The delectable chocolates weren't counted by me. James, my assistant manager, must have saw that stalkerish stare i was giving those vulnerable, kid size packs. But i was immediately taken aback when i picked up a couple in my hand. At first, it felt like pure gold. And pure gold is soft, and malleable. Wait....Soft, and malleable? Turns out, the chocolate were melting under the light in the Sweet Land 4. Would they expire at a quicker rate? Hmm...questionable lollies and chocolate in that machine. I am now off chocolate.....for 24 hours. I'm a chocoholic, i can't help it...

I finished my 1.5 litre bottle of water at 9:05. *Sigh* It sure is a long night. But i soon got into a debate with one of the other workers there.

Richard: HAha, those thwo over there on DDR are turning around. Such arrogance...Do you like DDR?
Seton: NOPE! I think it's one of the worst games that came out. But people seem to like it...
Richard: :O.........How can you say that? It's one of the BEST games EVER!

Anyhow, we got through that one, and at 11, i was a little tipsy. It was past my bedtime, and i wanted to go home. But as a CSA (Customer Service Attendant), we are expected to do a few jobs here and there. This includes cleaning a few games, using some windex on glass/plastic screens, and the they one that gave me such great joy, vacuuming everywhere there was carpet.

The vacuum is HUGE. And it has TWO suction motors. TWICE THE POWER, TWICE THE PAIN. Oh gosh, it was so fun when i started. It was SO freaking loud that i interrupted conversation throughout the whole store. Even threw off the DDR athletes and drummers. Hehehe....

I was happily vacuuming, until i stopped mid swing. Ah, minor stall, so i continued. Stopped again....The suction power was so great, it was getting stuck on the ground, forcing me to use both hands. A 10 min job for my superviser, took me 45 mins to complete. Hmm...Very efficient use of resources.....

Slipping in and out of consciousness, i was able to get through my first night shift, but this Sat, i'm working till 2. Not to worry. I'm in Northbridge, aka, Perth's City of Bubble Tea.

*At Tea Fusion*
Can I have Winter Kisses with Aloe Jelly.

My First Day...

Hi there, how can i help you?......$5?......Here you go, have a nice day.

The generic phrase I will use throughout the rest of my timezone career.

With a new timezone shirt, I felt at home in the Northbridge district. I'm not only Asian, but I work in NB, and that gave me a new sense of respect. Especially that personalised Name badge I have. I'm not a no-name customer anymore. I am Trainee....

When there are no customers at the counter, I can play free video games to gain a greater understanding of the game. I also fixed two machines: The Match Maker one and the Slam and Jam Machine #1. I also helped a friend win a cute Mickey and Minnie Mouse plushie at Skill Tester, but we should keep that one on the QT...

Redeeming tickets is a pain. Searching, and finding the right item will take me a while to get used to. The worst, however, was cleaning the machines. I thought it was a simple wipe over the guns of Time Crisis 4, Silent scope, some cop one, and the buttons of Virtual Striker 4. Turns out, I was expected to clean above the tops of the machines as well.

Being the naive newbie that i was, I used a duster. I mean, dusters are used to dust away dust, is it not? How wrong i was....The dust flung everywhere; on my new, and beloved TZ shirt, my hair, my eyes. Ahh, the pain...When my vision returned, I see my manager, Chad, grinning at my failed attempt.

"You can try using these wet cloths" *passes me bucket full of detergent water* "That way, the dust won't get everywhere, like your shirt...."
Hmm....maybe you should have told me that before.....

By the way, the dust particles were in all shades between Dark Grey and Black, but I'm sure it blended well with my lashes......

Apart from the dust, the cleaning standards at TZ are better than I expected. Each machine is rotated on the cleaning roster, every fortnight. Even though I thought they were never cleaned....Forcing me to clean the machines must be some sort of retribution......

Other than that, it is the occasional friend who comes along and asks for a FREE game or toy. As charming as you may be, I'm sorry to tell you that company policy is against me giving away free games, and I am forced to stick with this if it is my life dream is to further my career opportunities at Timezone...

Helping To Further Lower The Unemployment Rate

As of today, I am no longer unemployed. It sure is a great feeling;
  • to finally be of some use to society,
  • to have some money in my wallet to spend
  • a distraction as my brother goes to Melbourne without me :(....
I turned up to the interview at 2:25, (only 5 minutes early...) dressed in the best dress shirt, and new pair of jeans i had. My attire and my charismatic personality: What an AWESOME combination! After the paperwork, the interview went very smoothly. I could relate to the scenarios he laid out, helped greatly by me frequent patronage at the store.

  • How would you deal with a frustrated customer, who believes the cupid machine stole his money for being rigged?
    • Hmm....Maybe today isn't your day. These machines rely on pure luck, and even I, someone who works here, can't get a toy on a single attempt. But I can reposition the toys for you.
  • What if an attractive girl asked you for a free toy?
    • Haha, I'm sorry, but I've got to follow regulations, and you're not worth my job...
Chad, the store manager, called me earlier today: "Hey Richard....You've got the job"
My initial reaction.....I cried.....No of course I didn't. But i was overwhelmed. After that call, i could not help but sing praises.

I probably start work on Friday. In case anyone is interested, I told him i would be availible any day of the week, except Sunday until 4. Which means I would not be able to make a few youth programs.

As of today, I am officially part of the team at the place of my refuge when I was stressed during my exams, the place where you'll find me playing DDR in odd coloured socks, the place I work at...TIMEZONE We satisfy all your gaming desires...

To Be, Or Not To Be......

Is there a finite line between being straight and gay? How is a man defined as being gay?

These responses were taken from a random group of males:
  • Enjoys shopping
  • Like to wear the colour pink
    • Pink is a happy colour. People see pink, and become happy..........
  • Are obsessed of creating hearts
    • Making hearts is a way of sharing the love. And who wouldn't want to share the love?
  • Addicted to taking photos of people and one's ownself (aka. camera whore)
  • If they frequently hug other men
    • I hugged Ken today because it is his birthday on Thursday. What better than to share the love with someone who has given so much time, money and effort to me. It was the least i could do. I also hugged David because a certain someone was bullying him.
  • Uses a blow dryer?...
  • Wears a weird smile in pictures
    • No.....you can't look at the picture on my SmartRider
  • Enjoys wearing tight clothing or extremely small bags
    • It was my little sister's bag. But why would i hold it when i can wear it...And I was setting a new fashion trend,..
Ok, so if this is how a sample of the male population distinguishes a straight from a gay man, then I guess i'm gay....

Hmm....hang on a sec...I'm fairly certain i like women, even if i do have these so-called homosexual tendencies. But these were not done without reason. So what am i? Am i Gay? Or Straight?

Well, spending five years in an all-male high school, and often seen in photos like these, I have decided to come clean.

Oh gosh...I am straight.

As for the picture; do not be fooled, this is a picture of the Ping Brothers. There is nothing wrong with a family picture, now is there.

All the best for those going overseas this week.

How am i going to spend my holidays when my brother, David, is gone?
With girls of course.....
